Awoken by a realization that their existence is imagined outside the mythology of apple pies and white picket fences-- better known as the cult of Suburbia --Tavius Allen charted a novel path through understanding their own identity. Born in the suburbs of Durham, North Carolina, Tavius faced many petitions for their conformity to homogeneity: stale moments of domineering church services, oppressive public school conformity, and the usual pitfalls of living in a puritanical society as a queer-black-nonbinary individual . Tavius turned to television as an escape from his confining circumstance and through witnessing these representations of life they grew to broaden those narratives to ones closer to their own. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro studying the craft of creating one’s own mythology on screen by way of the university’s broadcasting club, Tavius was accepted into the Emerson College MFA in Writing for Film and Television.
